I’m planning on purchasing a teacher gradebook software program download. The site suggests that after downloading the program, I burn it to a disc so I can use it on other computers as well.
*One of the listed requirements of the software is 20 mb of free space on my hard disk drive.
MY QUESTION: Instead of burning this program to a disc, can I also copy it to one of those 1gb flash drives? Is that flash drive the same thing as a CD-R? Is 1 gb large enough to hold the program and it’s contents?
I would be using a Mac. Is the process of copying to the flash drive easy?

Yes, you can use a flash drive in place of a CD. All you need to do is drag the file over to the drive. 20MB will fit on a 1GB (1024MB) flash drive. A CD and a flash drive aren’t the same thing, but they will both work.

I have a liberal arts background, and never really studied higher mathematics or computer science. However, I have got into designing basic websites for people lately, using Dreamweaver and some other WYSIWYG programs. I know I need to break out of that, and start learning the programming languages necessary to design dynamic websites and interactive e-commerce solutions. How do I get my head around programming languages like PHP, though?

You can install XAMPP. This will give the Web server Apache, PHP and MySQL. It is easy enough to install and configure. See the link below fist. The simple site, with only 15-20 tables do not problem of handling thousands of users, taking you provide more concurrent users 3-500 – If you do not have enough traffic on your site, you're really no need to worry about the limitations of software. Beware of pure and hard "limits" if you get one – Years of experience I can say almost always depends on the material support that software, not the software itself, it borders.
